Today was the annual (semi-annual?) dental checkup.

I've been going to this dentist since we moved back to Slidell in 1976. (I've been going to the same doctor also.)

I was glad to hear nothing about retirement, etc. (I told my doctor he couldn't retire till I died.)

But it is nice to see the same faces, etc. and to mutually update on family doings. The dental hygienist, who does the cleaning, keeps my mind occupied with all the latest adventures of her now-grown kids.

If you don't count the missing corner of a front tooth, my teeth were in great shape.

I have an appointment for repair of said front tooth. I'll bet he "suggests" not eating apples "as is," but cutting them to lessen the stress on the front teeth. If he told me how much the new tooth will cost, I must have blanked it out--but it won't be cheap.

That took up the better part of the afternoon, and by the time I got home the various critters were hungry and wanting food.

Yesterday the cats turned up their noses at a canned sardine-flavored cat food. The raccoons thought day-old sardine cat food was quite a treat.

It seems to be getting dark earlier rather suddenly. I know that's not the case, but the autumnal equinox is less than a week away, so the decline in daylight hours is almost at the halfway point.

This evening will be reading and/or crossword and number puzzles while the TV is on. My body will (hopefully) remind me not too stay up too late.
