It didn't take much thought about whether or not to go into New Orleans today.

The weather radar had far too much green on it. And tomorrow will be more of the same.

The storm that is really doing a job on much of the U.S. is having effects down here also. Cold has been the main one so far, but there's still a long streak of green (rain, according to radar) that covers New Orleans and southeast Louisiana.

I did go out about mid-afternoon to pick up a prescription, replenish my critter food supplies--and to put a bit more variety in my larder.

As long as I was there I filled up my gas tank at Sam's, and the man at the adjacent pump gave me a big friendly smile and started chatting. He was the father of one of my swimming students. The last time I taught swimming was pre-K in 2005, so he's got a good memory. (K = Katrina)

Back in the late 40s and early 50s weather like this would be blamed (by some people) on the above-ground nuclear testing going on.

Did I mention that it is COLD (for here)? I expect to have a cat blanket again tonight.

So, once again an unremarkable day.
