Went to church this morning and came home to see my neighbor getting ready to mow my lawn.

It didn't take her long--I think she mowed it just a week ago.

After she finished we sat and chatted and watched the raccoons show up in response to a couple of handfuls of dog biscuits that I'd tossed out on the lawn.

The raccoons were aware of us, but ignored us. Dog biscuits are quite a treat, and the critters can be pretty sure that they are safe eating them in the yard.

I settled down with the Sunday paper and had gotten halfway through when a friend from church called. We usually chat a bit afterwards, but today she had coffee duty and it was too hot to sit outside and wait for her. It's not practical to sit inside after church--most everybody is bunched up in the vestibule where the coffee cart is, and the only seats are in the "pew" area.

Anyway, we ended up chatting for quite a while.

And then it began to rain. This has really cooled things down, but I hope it isn't around tomorrow. I plan to go in to Newcomb tomorrow, but if it's raining that will get postponed. I don't care to be navigating wet sidewalks with a cane.

My plans for this evening are related to it being the last day of the month--time to get finances up to date.
