Didn't make it in to work today either. Still behind on the "catching up" of stupid stuff around the house.

My girl cat has found herself a new "nest." There's a small end-table kind of general junk holder to the right of the cardtable holding my computer. At some point a very soft crocheted stole ended up there--probably one evening when I discovered I didn't really need it to stay warm.

From a cat's perspective, that means it is a five-star nap spot. It's fluffy, cozy, and within easy range of the human petting hand.

I figure that the boy cat is probably outside with his striped buddies. Or, he is doing general guard duty of the household.

I frequently find him curled up on me in the middle of the night. He's an excellent addition to an afghan, helping to keep it from sliding off me.

I had a nice chat with my neighbor this afternoon. I called to update her on the sewage disposal project--and to thank her for noticing the small puddle by the septic tank lid. She wanted more details about the whole thing--after all, they also have a septic tank.

It is SO nice to be rid of the hideously hot weather of the past month or so. I'm back to using a light cover at night. And welcoming the cats who curl up next to me to share body heat.

Time to do some weekly bookkeeping. With auto-deduct bill-paying seldom involves writing checks, but it's a good idea to keep the checkbook up to date!
