Governor Jindal just declared Louisiana to be in a state of emergency.

Translation: The current storm in the Gulf is officially a Storm and all sorts of stuff starts to happen, like closing roads in low-lying areas, and opening evacuation shelters.

I talked with my next door neighbor and neither of us plan to evacuate.

Katrina was the first storm where I evacuated, and a lot of that was because YD and family were packing up for a "visit" to an adult daughter in Shreveport (or somewhere in that vicinity.)

Later this afternoon I'll get the lawn chairs (and other junk) back in the garage.

And inventory my cat and other critter food.
