Shoulda's...

No, not shoulders. Shoulda's. Short for "should have"'s, as in "I should have thought of that," or "I should have been there for you."

No names, no labels, but my life is feeling very shoulda lately. Lots of stuff I should have done. Lots more stuff I should have considered.

Take the home renovation front. The living room is now in boxes. The boxes are now in the master bedroom. What else is in the master bedroom? More boxes, stuff that I've not touched since Clan Kitty moved to the Pacific Northwest last June.

Stuff I've not touched in eleven months, in other words.

I should have gone through those boxes, culled out the stuff I truly don't need, and come up with a better filing solution for the stuff I do.

Take the job. I've been here for eleven months. Fortunately, most of my teammates think it's only been "six or eight." This gives me a little more slack, because I should have more clue.

Actually, I do have a lot of clue, but in a very broad sense. I've been experimenting with lots of new product, such as OneNote and Groove (and finding out that they do NOT work together, natural as it would appear that they SHOULD.)

However, I don't have a lot of clue in C# (that's the language, not the musical note) or the various internal tools we use internally. I don't have a lot of clue in areas that I've made commitments this fiscal year to work on, such as 'information architecture' and our team web site.

And the fiscal year ends end of next month.

On an utterly unrelated (but fun) note, the Kitty Family (snap, snap) has three heads and four laptops. This means I finally get to have an unattended server again! Sadly, it won't be running *nix this time...

Still, the thought of it running Media Center Edition 2005, with 70+ GB of music files, and the Xbox 360 as a media extender makes my geeky heart go pitty-pat.

And I just received sanction to purchase either an HTC Hermes or Treo 750... Can't decide which to get. As you can see, I'm a pretty simple kitty. I like my cat toys shiny, blinky and purty...
