I was talking with a friend who was witnessing some unpleasantness online between some friends and remarked that it was an opportunity to learn something, but perhaps something that would never be used.

I replied, "There are at least three lessons to be gained from any sort of conflict.

How to use it on someone,

How to recognize it being used on you and defend,

How to recognize it being used on someone else and to help."

Actually, I said "four," but I can't remember the fourth.

Lessons are everywhere. Even in talking to others. Until I heard that one statement, I didn't formalize how to learn from other's ill intent. I'm sure I did some of the above, but, without it being itemized, I likely didn't do all three.
