I work as a software tester for a large, unnamed company. My group just shipped out product. My test manager told us to take today off.

(Yes, outta, I sat around all day and didn't write any Sian. I'll explain myself later on. If you let me have a later, that is.)

If he hadn't I would have probably sat around writing post-mortem documents. Stuff like, "this is where we could improve our processes for next time." Or, "this is where we still have holes in our testing."

Instead, I have today off because we all burned bright to make our deadline. Even if we had to move offices right in the middle of the last test pass. Even if I had heart surgery just before that.

Anyhow, day off. I still waited with Kitten for her school bus. Then, I walked up to my condo to check mail. For those just joining us (or who forgot because it's rather boring) my condo is under renovation. That's probably another TaerTime post in and of itself.

Walked back to my in-laws, where I'm sleeping, and poked around the computer. The dining room table is my computer desk. I sleep here, but I don't have a lot of infrastructure here. Took a nap on the recliner. I was too lazy to pull out the sofa-bed, which is where I normally sleep. Like I said, not a lot of infrastructure.

Enjoyed my day off with SpouseKitty. A new Mediterranean restaurant opened up nearby, and, given my heart, my cardiologist pointed me at the 'Mediterranean Diet,' so the two seemed to go well in hand. Let's just say the food was great, but it wasn't as heart-healthy as I liked. It wasn't bad for me, mind you. Just not as ... austere as my doc would have liked.

Came back. Started writing Sian, the serial story that's pretty much taken over this blog. Looked at it. Stared at it. Poked at it. Distracted myself with IM, CNN.com, EIEIO. Had dinner - brown rice, asparagus and tilapia. Very heart-friendly. Continued looking at Sian (and IM, and slashdot, and dealsucker, and ...)

Watched Heroes with SpouseKitty. I hate having the feeling of, "I could do better" while watching, especially when I have been fumbling with Sian for so long.

Finished Heroes, went into 'do-or-die' mode with Sian. As I said in IM to a friend, "if it [this chapter] isn't a train wreck, I'm going to post it." Finished it, splatted it onto the form.

Ran into writer's block writing the mini-Elsewhere header. For those not reading Sian, I try to put some redeeming value in each chapter by musing about the art of fiction as an introduction. Yes, it's an art, because my definition of science is "reproducible results under similar circumstances."

Anyhow, gurgled something up, posted the chapter. SpouseKitty and MommaKitty-in-law are still in the living room watching television (and MKil is going deaf, so the television volume is set on stun.) Thus, sleep is out of the question. Hence, my shrugging and posting something like this.
