Here's an attempt to write some flash. I need to get my fic.writing chops back. They've been dormant for too long.

The autumn wind blows softly, but I know it takes with it someone's loved ones. Long ago, I never gave it a thought. I would see souls wafting away, pause and bow my head, then continue my life.

It grows stronger. Of late, it has reaped my mother and my wife's beloved aunt. It walks beside a cherished friend's loved one, neither frightening nor threatening.

It is the wind, the herald of colder days, longer nights. I feel a chill in my heart. My wife's breath catches in her throat. Pray tell me, Wind, how does it feel to fly?
