Thanks to scout (who used to be found at JournalScape before striking off into her own domain, I've been dragged kicking and screaming into the world of RSS (Really Simple Syndication.)

JournalScape has RSS, and Kenny has been kind enough to write up a quick summary on how it works and how to use it. Or how to use it, anyhow. I'm still not sure how it works.

How to use it? Simple:

Get an RSS reader. It's sort of like an email program for your blogs. You can download one, such as Sage, an extension for Firefox, or an online one such as Google Reader, which runs in your web browser.

And, the most important step, add me to your list of feeds. http://www.journalscape.com/taerkitty/rss.xml.

I'll post again in a few days on how I feel about it. For now, my first impressions are actually negative. The primary issue is how it does not handle comments. I can't see how many comments an article has, I can't see the comments others have left, and I can't leave my own, not from the reader itself.

Now, a quick click on the article's title and I'm dropped back onto the warm and friendly JS page where I can, but that's not the same thing.

The good news is that this is similar to the Scan feature, which updates me on all the new postings from people I've elected to watch. JS' Scan is limited to JS, which is expected. This way, I can gather feeds from other blog sites such as my friends.

I'll be adding the usual suspects, but if you want to be sure, comment or email me with your site's RSS feed. If you don't know your site's RSS feed, just comment or email me with your site and I'll try to find it.
