On Saturday Mrs The Fyd had her birthday. It was a beautiful feeling to take her out to a nice dinner, enjoy good wine, bake her a sloppy chocolate cake, watch her open her presents, help her to enjoy the day. Then again most days are a joy with her.

Sunday was her employers' annual company picnic. Not the type of event I ever greet with enthusiasm, but we went for a short appearance. Now we may live in a white city, but for a company of around two hundred employees to have one minority working for them seems to me to be ignoring the issue. Anyway, creepy picnic was endured -- more palatable was the walk through the park afterwards.
