Yesterday I was trying to close a plot gap in a short story. Could not think of how to do so, and I knew that this was the last ingredient to what I think will be a very good story. Without it I was frustrated and wondering if the story would hold up at all.

Then I glanced at my incoming email; almost all spam, and all of their subject lines either full of mangled words to escape yahoo's filter, or else made by random word generators. And the words of one of those subject lines actually, unbelievably, happily, made sense in the context of this plot gap and truly helped me to solve the problem. Thank you, spam boy or girl.

Not that I went on to read the spam itself. Why tempt fate?
