In the spirit of Not One Damn Dime, I present a brief enumeration of recent purchases:

1. A shiny new microwave (Mrs The Fyd's mother broke an irreplaceable component of the last one)
2. A shiny new vacuum cleaner (the last one displayed an obstinate adherence to planned obsolesence)
3. A shiny new guitar (purchased the Sunday before last, when Mrs The Fyd and I visited the Northwest Pet and Companion Fair. Yes, I bought a guitar at a pet fair. Apparently some vendors will just set up a stall no matter what the context. At any rate, I didn't have a steel string acoustic among my current guitars and for a C-note this was a good buy)
4. Shiny new headphones (when listening to my iPod at work I use the Koss PortaPros I've had for years. Great headphones. However, on the bus I guess I prefer something more portable even than the PortaPros already are. The "ear buds" that came with the iPod are craptastic non-starters, seeing as how I don't like shoving things down my ear canal. I've been using a cheap pair of Koss clip-ons, but recently decided to upgrade. So today Amazon delivered to me a stunning pair of Audio-Technica EM7GM clip-ons. These things are, in technical terms, eensy-weensy, and have a futuristic look that only reinforces my firm conviction that the device's descendants will be vanishingly small and possessed of a multi-functionality that will allow the user to listen to the rock, rock the world, destroy the world, and delete spam. Anyway the headphones sound great, though the bass could be improved)

Also Mrs The Fyd bought some shoes recently.

And currently, revolution stalks the streets of downtown Portland.
