The high temperature today was 101. Tomorrow it's supposed to hit 100 again. Almost every summer there is a similar heat wave and every summer I am shocked and disgusted.

But I do not write merely to complain about the heat. What the heat does is to encourage me to wear shorts. I have a scab on my left shin, from some unremembered injury. As I sat out on the deck reading, the dogs kept coming up to lick the scab. Thanks, dogs.
