But seriously, folks...

Flytrap is open to submissions. (That link takes you to the guidelines.) You've got six weeks -- send Heather some good fiction! I'm editing poetry, so I don't have to read any slush this time. Erin Donahoe will be our featured poet for issue #5. Non-fiction of whatever variety should be submitted to me. It'd be nice to get some good rant/memoir stuff.

Last night we went to Best Buy, that mecca of consumerism, and Heather bought season 1 of Deadwood (after seeing 4 episodes via Netflix, we knew we wanted to own it). She picked up the new Tori Amos CD, and I got the new Beck (which was on sale, making it just as cheap as downloading it via iTunes). I also bought Prince of Persia: Warrior Within for the Xbox. Very pretty. I only played it for about fifteen minutes, and it'll take some getting used to, but I'm optimistic.

We've got a super-social weekend ahead. We're going to Santa Cruz to visit Scott and Lynne, and on Saturday afternoon we'll drive a few miles south to join the people at the Hidden City workshop. Heather and I couldn't spare the time off to attend Hidden City for the whole week, but they kindly invited us to join them for dinner Saturday night. We'll stay over with them Saturday night, hang out a bit on Sunday morning, then come home and clean some of the heaps of dust and cat hair out of our house. Spring cleaning time! (Or, alternately, we'll collapse on the couch and watch Deadwood, and clean next weekend instead.)

I was very saddened to hear about Mitch Hedburg's death. My brother introduced me to his comedy last year (though I suppose I must've seen some of his stuff back in the day, when I watched Dr. Katz regularly). Hedburg was one funny dude. I listened to his CD, Mitch All Together, again last night.
