Writers with Drinks was awesome. Charliegirl was a great MC as always, and I enjoyed the whole show, especially the closer, Shailja Patel, a phenomenally talented and gorgeous Indian performance poet. I chatted a bit with Katia Noyes, who's amazingly cool, and met Shannon Cummings, who read some awesome, smart, hot lesbian erotica. And Lynnee Breedlove (who also opened the show last time I did Writers with Drinks a few years ago) is simply a force of nature. I felt a bit out of place among the great performers, reading my little novel excerpt (though at least it was a section involving sex in the mud and negligent homicide), since I'm not exactly burning up any stages with my presence, but people tell me it was good, and I got a lot of laughs in all the right places. I'm glad I went. The crowd was quite large, and I sold a few copies of the novel, so all's well. Lots of friendly faces there, too, including my landlord, and some of Heather's coworkers, and Jen Fu! Jenn Reese was there (yay!), and Heather and I went with her to a little Irish pub, had some food, and chatted for hours. I wasn't up for the big group outing afterward with Charlie and everyone -- it would've been fun, but I was tired and wanted a quieter experience, and the chance to talk more with Jenn. Plus, they were having tapas, and I'm taking Heather out for tapas for her birthday next week, and that's quite enough tapas for me, thanks.

Otherwise, quiet weekend at home, doing some chores, reading, writing a bit on the Bridge novel. Good times.
