The reading last night was fine, though I felt bad for having to duck out so quickly -- especially because we just missed our train back to the East Bay, and had to spend 20 minutes waiting on the platform, so we could have seen probably all the rest of the readers. Sigh. That's the way it goes. I got to chat with a few people beforehand, at least. We didn't get back home until 9 p.m., so I didn't get a lot done, but, hey, now I have a packing list and a printout of my itinerary, so I'm better off than I was before. I'll do the actual packing part tonight, after I do a big ol' load of laundry so I actually have clothes to wear. Then I get to see whether I can fit everything in a carry-on and a bookbag. I bet I can, because I'm just that hardcore. And I hate checking luggage.

We stay at a bed & breakfast during the workshop, and it looks like I'll be rooming with Greg, which'll be fine, I guess, as long as he keeps his feet off my side of the bed. (We're not supposed to pre-critique, but I will say I think his novel is really quite good.)

Wish I wasn't missing World Horror. Oh, well. Can't have everything.

Got a rejection from Realms on the weird little meta short story I read at Wiscon last year. Not sure where I'll send it next. It's pretty weird, and gets very mixed reactions, so I'll have to think about it.

Heather's done a great job of keeping me from going crazy this week. She's been supportive, and fun, and sweet, and has generally helped me over some higher-than-expected hurdles. And last night, she bought me a delicious burrito. I have the best wife ever. I'm really going to miss her next week.
