What Am I Supposed to Do All Day?

[grumble] stupid TWoP forums are down all day, Babble was inaccessible until it was too late to start the puzzle, I mean, what do they expect me to do at this job ... work?[/ grumble]

For the record, I did work on what was available, and I can apparently continue to do so with some confidence, as the NYU Powers That Be have landed on "hire a replacement" as the solution to "What are we going to do with the Center after [my boss] leaves?" For now, anyway. Remains to be seen whether or not they'll change their minds once he's gone and not available to kick up a fuss about it.

Anyway, the personal life is going fine, as far as that goes. I have a birthday coming up, unrelated plans to go see the Whitney Biennial with Lala and her entourage on Friday, related plans to ice-skate in the park on Saturday (when it will be 60 and sunny!) and a weekend trip to Memphis in the near future. Still, I've been very blah lately. The world's not exactly a happy place these days, despite how hard I try to stay in Pollyannaville. (Although someone at Crazy Tree's party told me it was nice to hear my optimism for a change. I don't know that "we've got to hit bottom eventually and then it can only get better" is that optimistic, but it's not "we're all gonna die," I suppose.) About five times in the last two weeks I've wanted to post links to some catastrophic failure of reason or civil rights violation and given up because, either you all know by now that things suck or you aren't ever going to admit it so there's really nothing I can do. Which is not a fun feeling for a control freak like me.

Baseball hasn't been a huge help this week, what with the Kirby Puckett and Barry Bonds assorted dramatics. At least there is college basketball. I do love me some March Madness. Congratulations to Oral Roberts making the tournament! Here's hoping you play Gonzaga in the first round and beat them. Revenge of the Suttons! (A girl can dream.) Also, it was funny to see that they played the Mid-Con tournament in the gym of my high school. The fancy-schmancy arena/gym they built after I graduated, but it still says "Union" on each end of the floor. See, I feel cheered up already.
