NCAA Men's Tourney Results Day 1: Light to Moderate Carnage

I don't regret getting my hair cut, but I need to remember next year not to schedule one on a tournament day -- probably for the first time since maybe by sophomore year in high school, I did not see one single game in its entirety. Well, there's always the weekend.

One thought: in all the fuss about how overrated Tennessee was, people (myself included) may have overlooked how underrated the SEC was as a whole. The SEC went 4-0 yesterday, including two absolute blowouts and one upset. Meanwhile, the vaunted Big East went 1-2, and that one win went into double overtime. Of course, the Big East has 5 more teams playing today, so we'll see if they redeem themselves.

On the bracket front, it was certainly not my best day ever, but aside from Nevada (arrgh), the long term damage is pretty minimal. Aside from my Fantasy bracket -- which surprises me only when it doesn't crash and burn -- I've lost no more than 2 Sweet Sixteen teams in any one bracket, and only the possibly medication-induced Nevada pick (in Deadspin and Fantasy) among all of my Final Fours. Actually, if I can match that today, I'm still in good shape.

Current Standings: Dad's office 11-5, Deadspin and Family 10-6, Fantasy 7-9
