Things to Remember When It's Snowing in April

OK, so it snowed for an hour, and it all melted, but it was conveniently timed so I had to walk in it, carrying the video camera equipment, and sans hat or umbrella, since someone on the radio said it looked like the precipitation had cleared out for the rest of the day. (Oh, Julianne Welby, you are really in my dog house this time. This is far, far worse than saying the wrong Ohio-based baseball team was playing the Cubs or your infamous "pick up a loss" phrase that annoys me so, so much. You have a lovely voice, but the things you say with it sometimes!) At least I had a hood -- Em didn't, and her hair was soaked.

Anyway, it was nice to return to the warm, dry Internet and see sunny pictures of the Cardinals' new stadium. A few people posted about it, but the most comprehensive review of the facilities are over at Deadspin, natch. I only hope that the official grand opening (yesterday was a minor league game, with a one-price ticket that allowed you to wander all over the place) will feature multiple Pujols homeruns just like the Cardinals' Away Opening Day. (And another Rolen grand slam, too, of course, but the chances of that are pretty small statistically.)

Also, congratulations to Maryland, even though, as I understand it, I needed a Duke win to win the family women's pool. An overtime game, no less, though maybe a bit less exciting given that the teams were playing for the fourth time this season. I would not have been able to watch, as I have no cable, but as it turned out, I would have missed most of the game anyway. lowercase j put together a SLC alum reading series, featuring J1, Nn, Zan, and Aloha which I went to and was duly inspired (and a weird combination of jealous/ashamed that I haven't been working as hard on my writing as they obviously have). Afterwards, I went to dinner with Zan, BA, Minnesota J, and someone who I may have to make up a name for eventually. Plus, Yan and Gel (formerly Female J) were there as well, and I haven't seen either of them for months (not for lack of trying), so that was nice. And dinner -- Italian-- was delicious.
