Sometimes when I call home on the weekends (usually Friday nights), Married Brother likes to ask me why I'm not out doing something exciting. I refrain (well, sometimes I refrain) at these times from mentioning that he is spending his Friday night playing board games with our parents. He will say it doesn't count because he's married and does not live in New York City, but I say those are convenient excuses. Anyway, the reason why I have so many Fridays at home is quite simple: Because everyone I know waits to do things on the same weekend in May.

OK, not everyone. But after spending two consecutive weekends going to see various friends in various bands at various bars, the following things are all happening this coming Saturday:

*Yan and I have theater tickets.
*Sus is coming to visit.
*Loo, of all people, is having an apartment warming party. I haven't heard from her since last Memorial Day and she picks this Saturday to throw a party.
*The Maths Wizard is having a birthday party. This I probably should have expected, having been to his birthday party before, but I don't seem to remember the birthday of anyone I met after high school except for Sus, who is a Leap Year baby and thus a little hard not to remember.

What's really annoying is I only bought the theater tickets because at the time of purchase I hadn't been anywhere in about a month -- it wasn't like I had some pressing desire to see the show. And it was one of those good deals through work, which I felt I should take advantage of since I'm possibly not going to be working here that much longer. (Calm down, I've sent resumes a couple of places, that's all.) So now I have to decide what to do. I wish I could just go to the Maths Wizard's for a bit and then go pick up Sus (she's coming in late after spending the day with her NJ friends) but the logistics of that particular arrangement are next to impossible. I guess if Sus wants to come in earlier and go to Loo's party I could give my ticket to Yan, but it is a booze-themed party and Sus doesn't drink, so I don't know if she's going to be that enthusiastic about it. I suppose I will wind up sticking to my original plan (theater then pick up Sus), as it bugs me when people back out of arrangements because they've received a better invitation.

You'll notice, however, that my Friday is still free and clear. Guess I'll be calling home after all.
