Can I Go Now?

I've finished my work "to do" list for the day (seriously, I have a post it with little checkmarks on it and everything, I'm so organized when I don't want to be here), and now I just want to go home and see if I can fit all my toiletries in a quart size plastic bag.

It's so quiet here without Lala. I don't think I mentioned that her last day was last Thursday. That was a great day: Lala left, my beloved Veronica Mars was finally and irrevocably canceled, and my ballet teacher didn't show up for class so I didn't even get to sweat all the frustration out. Lala's offered to help me paint the bathroom once I come back from OK -- she insists she likes helping with "household stuff."

My goal for vacation is to spend as little time as possible in front of the computer. I've handed off my P-boz responsibilites to another editor for the week, and let all my coworkers know I absolutely refuse to check my work email while I'm gone (Emm has my home email if it's an absolute emergency, but I can trust her not to abuse it.). I think I've been spending too much time staring at the computer screen and that's part of the reason I've been having so much trouble with my eyesight lately. That and straining my eyes looking at a 13 inch television in a dim livingroom (turns out the last tenant had 100W bulbs in there for a reason). My parents have a big screen, which always makes me feel overstimulated the first few days, but should be a nice rest for my eyes.

All this is my way of saying I won't be around much until June, so my postmortem of the VM finale (sob) or any other things that happen in the next two weeks will be somewhat delayed.
