Another sign of the bad economy: the Washington Square neighborhood has more or less emptied as the NYU semester wraps up. I guess few of the students (or their parents) decided to pay for intersession housing this year. It probably also doesn't hurt that nothing seasonal moved into the old Tower Records on West 4th and Broadway this year -- there's no need for the holiday shoppers in SoHo to venture that far north. Still, I went out to grab lunch and stop at the bank yesterday at about 1 pm, which is usually the height of the lunch time rush around here and there was almost no one in either the bank or the Au Bon Pain.

Half the people I know are having a Christmas party this weekend. Looks like going for the cheaper flight (this coming Monday) instead of an extra weekend in OK was a good decision, because now I won't miss all the fun like I usually do this time of year.

Science Girl is proving particularly difficult to shop for this year. Mostly because I had decided to get a particular thing off her list and then Mom called to say she was going to buy it for her instead. But she's the only one I have left -- I would like to get something else for my dad, but I could go with what I have if I can't find what I'm looking for.

I have nothing really to say; I just have nothing to do at work this afternoon except wait for the phone to ring. And I can't even work on this week's Ladies ... post because it involves lots of photoshopping (technically, GIMP-ing, but that sounds weird) and all the files are on my home computer. Plus, I thought it might be nice if I had one post at least in December.
