MADCAP MUSINGS

We went out Saturday night to see some friends that play in an 80's cover band. First off, let me just say they are bad-asses. They come to town about once or twice a month, and we go to see them every time they are here. We've introduced a lot of our local friends to them and they have somewhat of a small cult following in town. They are so much fun and they are REALLY, REALLY good! www.therealgeniuses.com

So, in the spirit of the 80's (and a little of the late 70's thrown in), I'd like you to ponder upon some of my favorite things from my childhood. These are in no specific order:

-Tutti Fruity sherbert from High's convenience stores
-Red Rose Iced Tea - liquid crack
-My cool-ass Banana seat Pink Panther Bike
-Wonder Woman underoos
-Star Studio - I was going to be a star, I just knew it!
-Madonna - Like a Virgin
-Michael Jackson - Thriller
-Barbie Dream House - not to be confused with the townhouse
-Barbie Corvette - I think Ken had a small penis and it was secretly his car that he pawned off on the Barbster
-My blue and white Smurf Roller Skates - move over Olivia Newton John
-Xanadu - Olivia Newton-John as a roller skating muse
-Wonder Horse
-Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders - I was SOOOO going to be one!
-Shaun Cassidy charm bracelet - if anyone finds it, can you let me know? I'm heartbroken that I lost it!
-Andy Gibb - hot younger bro to the Bee Gees (I'm sorry that bitch Victoria Principal broke your heart driving you to suicide - I'll always love you Andy!
-John Travolta
-Rick Springfield - Hard to Hold, baby!
-BJ and the Bear - you don't see tv shows like that anymore. I mean, a chimp and a truck driver? Come on!
-Asia - Only Time Will Tell

-Dukes of Hazzard - what girl didn't want to be Daisy, and hopefully kissing cousins with one of them Duke boys?

-Battlestar Gallactica: Apollo - hot stepdad, Starbuck - hot cigar smokin', poker playin' ladies' man
