Well, gee. I've been a bit of a slacker on updating recently, haven't I?

I've been in San Diego since the 20th of December, which has something to do with my not updating regularly. I have internet access here, but have mostly been too busy to use it for much except hasty e-mails.

So, what have I been busy with? Seeing family and friends for a start. My parents, who now reside in North Carolina, came to San Diego from the 22 to the 26th. Got to spend what seemed like far too short a time with them, and with my sister Stephanie (who lives in San Diego). I've also gotten to spend time with a generous selection of Daniel's grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins -- fun people all. And to round things out, Daniel and I have had coffee with a number of old high school pals of ours. Tremendous fun, all of it, but occasionally enough to make an introvert like me want to hide under the covers.

What else have I been doing? Writing, for one. I'm trying to finish up a new short story while I'm on vacation here. It's an oddball one for me -- pretty much the result of my having immersed myself in the works of Clive Barker recently. It's my attempt to write a Books of Blood kind of short story, except that it's taken on a sort of humorous Southern California sort of vibe. But it's still my first real attempt to write any sort of real horror story. It'll be interesting to see how it comes out.

Also watching anime. Borrowed a bunch of DVD's from one of the aforementioned old highschool friends. So far I've seen Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust and a handful of episodes of Cowboy Bebop. There's more Cowboy Bebop to come. Very stylish animation, lots of action, and a fabulous soundtrack. Great show.

And of course, I've been reading a bunch. Read a few books that I'd like to comment on further, but I should probably save that for a future entry. Later!
