So, I have just (yesterday) landed myself a freelance contract to produce a fairly hefty research proposal before April 1st. Woo.

I am thrilled to have the work, and the project is very cool, but I think I am slightly insane to try to tackle this in this time frame.

But, they aren't paying me to be sane, they're paying me to write -- and write is what I'll do.

So, spent last night and today mostly on a mad literature binge, trying to get the basic background material down. I think it's working: over a cup of coffee earlier tonight, I sketched out a fairly plausible skeleton of a research plan. (With lots of blanks for "Scientists who will actually be doing the work fill in details here.")

And on the plus side, I'm no longer stressing about the job interviews I have upcoming this week. I have too many other things to think about!

This is really kind of fun in a twisted sort of way.

Anyway, I'll try not to fall victim to the "journaller who stops posting every time life gets interesting" syndrome. Though my life might be very boring, at least in terms of what I can describe in this journal:

Wrote a bunch. Wrote some more. Read six papers, had a cup of coffee, and wrote. Then for a change of pace, did some writing.
