I have just met my last work deadline of 2003. Two solid days of mad scramble by myself and a coworker, and we finished getting the last of the liquid chromatography manuals ready to be reprinted with the new company name. We ended up having to use Word, FrameMaker, Stupid Acrobat PDF Tricks, scissors, tape, glue, Liquid Paper, two different versions of Adobe Illustrator, a photocopier, and three different printing companies...but, the things are going to get printed.

Someday I'll tell the full story...but right now I don't really want to relive any of it.

Somewhere in there I found time to read the galley proofs for my story "Portrait of an Unidentified Angel", which will be appearing in Realms of Fantasy sometime in April-June-ish. It was fun to reread the story - it's been long enough since I looked at it that I was able to be surprised by some bits. The story's held up well for me - I'm always afraid that when I read a story in proof, I'll think, "Oh, God, how did I come up with this crap?" Hasn't happened to me yet, though.

Tomorrow night, Daniel and I are off to Florida, to spend a few days with my parents, sister, and grandparents. (The grandparents live in Florida - everybody else is coming in from elsewhere.) My plan for tomorrow is to do laundry and pack and all the other stuff that I haven't had time to do yet.

Posting is likely to be scarce for the next few days - I'll have limited net access, and probably a full social schedule.

Wishing a Merry Christmas to those who celebrate Christmas, and a continuing Happy Chanukah to those who celebrate Chanukah, and a Happy Kwanzaa to those who celebrate Kwanzaa. And to anyone else who happens to be celebrating a winter holiday that I might not be aware of, happy holidays to you, too.
