What Irrational Number Are You?
You are φ

Of all the irrational numbers, you are considered to be the most beautiful. Those who know you well have called you by many names, all golden. However, most people don't know you by name and probably won't even recognize you by sight, but they do like to see you. Despite your pretty face, you are by no means shallow. You are involved it many things: finance, biology, architecture, art, music, and much more.

In some ways you and e are a nearly perfect match. The power and intensity of e excites you.

Your lucky number is approximately 1.61803399

The funny part is, I took the quiz again, guessing at what Daniel's answers would be, and he came out as e. Guess we really were made for each other!

I started teaching myself to knit last night. After a couple of unsuccessful tries, I managed to learn how to cast on stitches. However, my first few attempts to do a knit stitch were fairly disastrous. (Okay, I hold this with my left hand. And with my right I bring the needle here. And then with my other hand. Er.) I figure if I practice enough, I'll be able to execute a knit stitch without using three hands. I hope.

(I also have visions of being The Girl Who Couldn't Figure Out How to Bind Off, and knitting one enlessly long scarf that never got finished because I'd never be able to get it off the needle. But I won't even get there unless I can learn how to do a knit stitch.)

Even just having one row of stitches cast on to the needle is pretty cool though. I can look at it, and see how it would make the edge of a finished knit piece.

I am thinking that I might have made my life easier if I'd gotten some huge knitting needles and some chunky weight yarn, because I might be able to see what was going on better. The books keep saying, "Notice how the shape of the stitch is like so." and I just keep thinking, "All I see is a loop of yarn on a needle." The first actual project I tackle will probably be a scarf in chunky yarn. (Stitch-N-Bitch has a scarf project for beginners that's all knit stitches - I can save learning to purl for later.)

I was clearly not cut out to be a domestic goddess. It's okay. The plan for the day is brunch with Daniel, followed by BARTing to the city to go shoe shopping with Naomi. I shall return with my shoes, or in them.
