Earlier today, I learned that the wife of a coworker of mine was in a serious car accident (she was rear-ended by a car travelling at freeway speed while she was stopped in traffic.) She was treated at the hospital, and released, which is much better than many of the possible alternatives. Still.

Then I learn that Gardner Dozois was in a serious car accident earlier in the week, and was injured severely enough to require shoulder surgery. (Additional information in the Asimov's forum.)

I would like to make the following public service announcement to the drivers of the world:
1. Pay attention!
2. See #1.
3. If #1 and #2 are, for whatever reason, beyond you, could you stop crashing into people I care about?
