Happy Birthday to, uh, everyone

This has been a very celebratory weekend. Friday night, we trekked up to San Francisco for a slightly belated birthday dinner for Daniel's mom. Daniel and I presented her with a stuffed plush frog, which, despite being proclaimed the ugliest frog ever by Diana, seemed to be a hit. (It was, arguably, a quite ugly frog. Just in a cute sort of way. I thought. Anyway.)

We had dinner at a French bistro-type place called Chapeau, up in the Richmond. The kabocha squash soup I had as an appetizer and the lime sorbet I had for dessert were super-yummy. Everything else was quite good, though perhaps not worth waxing ecstatic over.

A good time was had by all. We got out of there quite late. Daniel drove home, and I fell asleep in the car. It's funny - when I sleep in a car, I always wake up when we get near home.

Then Saturday evening, we had a belated birthday dinner for Daniel's grandfather, Chauncey, and Daniel's aunt Ariel. We got caught up on the exploits of various relatives.

This morning I woke up feeling extremely groggy. I think maybe I'm partied out. Daniel and I hit Peet's for coffee. I dragged myself down to the monthly writers' group meeting, and managed to contribute relatively intelligently, even. Most folks had to leave early. Dario (who was hosting) made me a cup of tea and let me hang around for a while and chat. It's funny - after last month's meeting, Naomi (who was hosting that time) made me a cup of tea and let me hang around for a while and chat. It's a pleasure to have friends who are so skilled at making tea and conversation.

So, that's my weekend. Back to work tomorrow. Wheee!
