Well, prior to settling down to a nice round of video game playing, I went and checked the site stats on Daniel's blog.

It looks like the same online gambling sites that have been comment and trackback spamming are also engaging in referral log spamming. There are over 100 entirely spurious referrals from assorted poker sites in the log.

The sad thing is that they're not deriving any benefit from it, since danielstarr.com's referrer stats are not posted publically anywhere. I don't think there's a drop of GoogleJuice to be had from what they're doing.

It is mildly annoying though, since it kind of mucks with assorted stats. Not that the stats are that big a deal, but still.

There are ways of dealing with referrer log spam. I seem to recall that Caveat Lector had some good posts on how to combat it. I'll have to check those out. Later.
