Well, today is the day our big publication arrives - Encounter Calhoun County. I'm nervous and excited at the same time.

I'm nervous because this whole thing was my idea. It is full of my articles, laid out with my design. I've told the whole county that it's going to be great - that it will bring tourists to our little corner of the world.

I'm nervous because I might have just been dreaming again. I'm nervous because maybe it's not as great as I think it is. I'm nervous because - well, because I stuck my neck out.

I'm excited because - well, because at this moment, I still think it is a wonderful thing. Because it is the first tourism piece of it's kind for our county - ever. I'm excited because we have, for the first time, reached for that brass ring that says "Calhoun County isn't no where. We have features that people will love to come visit."

Of course, when you submit digitally, instead of doing the old wax and paste layout, you don't know what it's going to look like until you have 5,000 copies. . .
