I finally met my great nephew, Aiden, this week when my niece and her husband came on a visit from Virginia. It was an enjoyable few days, and my niece taught me how to download music. . . A new toy. I've been collecting disco songs ever since. In addition, all my "how to travel write" books arrived from Amazon.com, and I have begun book one, while also perusing the 2006 Writer's Market. Today, after finishing work for the paying job, I worked a little on my "brief paragraph that describes your experience and topic preferences" as requested for submissions for Wonderful West Virginia Magazine . I figure I'll just start widening my radius of publications and see how far I go - literally. First, WV Magazine, then maybe some rewrites to Backpacker or Camping today. Then, maybe National Geographic Traveler. Nothing wrong with a little dreaming, is there? In reality, I just want to "compete" on a wider level, pay for our little trips, and make some extra money. Maybe make it more than just a hobby, so when I'm 55 I'm not still planning my life around local events. The big dream goal? To someday get a trip to Alaska paid for. Now, that would be cool.
