Writings, Thoughts and Happenings

I was born in the late 1970s. I grew up in West Virginia, went to five different schools for undergraduate in three different states, finishing at the University of Pittsburgh. I had obtained degrees in English Literature and Film Studies, and had satisfied or nearly satisfied requirements for a multitude of minors. Then, upon realizing that I would need a day job in order to be able to chase my dreams in these two fields, I chose to go to law school. I am out of law school now. I live in Pennsylvania now. To know the rest you'll have to read on a bit.

Dodging the Sniper

Back to the real world, or so it is as I perceive it . . . .

Okay, so keep everyone up to date:

My mother-in-law was on CNN, and so was her father. It seems that national news cameras were present at the funeral of one of the sniper victims. My mother-in-law was singing, and her father was preaching.

Eerily enough, one of the other victim's father lives on the same road as my parents-- where I grew up. It seems he also sang in the same gospel group I used to sing in.

Also, the one for whom my mother-in-law sang was related to my husband. I am rather a bad neighbor, as I did not know any of this. My first concern has been to keep tabs on all my family and make sure that they are not fueling up at night or even out much after dark. At the same time, though, I do not want this lunatic to think that he has me paralyzed with fear, so other than the gasoline and phone calls, I have not and will not change my patterns just because he or she has a gun and no conscience.

So, the sniper can think what he wants-- I'm not going to change my life for him/her. I cannot be controlled like that and I refuse to be scared in my own hometown. My move will continue as tentatively scheduled, but until then I hope they catch the guy. Oh, and by the way, I nearly never stopped for gas after dark, anyway. It is too much of a hassle to pay with a debit card through the pass-through device.
