Writings, Thoughts and Happenings

I was born in the late 1970s. I grew up in West Virginia, went to five different schools for undergraduate in three different states, finishing at the University of Pittsburgh. I had obtained degrees in English Literature and Film Studies, and had satisfied or nearly satisfied requirements for a multitude of minors. Then, upon realizing that I would need a day job in order to be able to chase my dreams in these two fields, I chose to go to law school. I am out of law school now. I live in Pennsylvania now. To know the rest you'll have to read on a bit.

A Date!

Back to the real world, or so it is as I perceive it . . . .

Kenn and I left the house this evening intending to look through IKEA to get some ideas and go to ALDI to get some of the best chocolate chip cookies in the world. We ended up deciding to FINALLY go see _The Passion of the Christ_. So we did. We bought the tickets and still had an hour and half before the picture began, so we went out to dinner.

We inadvertantly went out on a date. I love that. Most of our time together involves cleaning, doing laundry, et cetera. When we do leave the house together, it is to go to the grocery store or rent a movie.

It was a Monday night and we got to go out on a date. We have to work in the morning, but we went out and let somebody else cook and clean up, then we sat in a real theatre and watched a flick-- on a first run, I might add. We managed to catch our desired film while it was still in the theatre. This is an accomplishment for us.

We both had time off from work at the same time and that corresponded with our energy level and the showing of something we wanted to see. Woo-hoo.

And yet women I work with ask me why I don't have kids just yet. This night would not have been possible if we had to find child care or deal with children at a restaurant and movie-- especially not something as violent as this film.

Sometimes, timing is everything. Like tonight-- and children.

It is amazing to me how something so simple as a date with my husband can make me so happy-- and yet it started out as an errand. We should run more errands.
