Writings, Thoughts and Happenings

I was born in the late 1970s. I grew up in West Virginia, went to five different schools for undergraduate in three different states, finishing at the University of Pittsburgh. I had obtained degrees in English Literature and Film Studies, and had satisfied or nearly satisfied requirements for a multitude of minors. Then, upon realizing that I would need a day job in order to be able to chase my dreams in these two fields, I chose to go to law school. I am out of law school now. I live in Pennsylvania now. To know the rest you'll have to read on a bit.

Extreme Bowling

Okay, so I met Mike and Jason at Red Lobster to eat before bowling. After dinner, the question was asked why we didn't just go somewhere else? It seemed we all wanted burgers. RL dropped burgers from its menu a few months ago. We went there because a lot of the people going bowling were working there tonight. But if we're going to see them later . . . and if they're at work . . . . Oh, well.

So then we all piled into cars and went to Kate's. There, more of us ended up driving people. So we had a four car caravan. There were twelve of us. Well, I stopped to get cash, and then pulled in next door at the bowling alley's empty lot. Empty? Empty? The alley's power had gone out and it was closed. Okay. So we are not all here, AND my passenger had walked to the gas station to buy a phone card, so I had to go find him. So I did, and Nicole and her friend, who had pulled in after I had, went to get gas. I drove around looking for my passenger, and finally found him at the alley's parking lot.

We got ahold of Kate and met her at a local Catholic church, where she told us to go meet Mike and co. at Eat-n-Park while she met Nicole at Olive Garden and she'd meet us at E-n-P. Well, we waited for Mike, Jason and Jared, who finally showed up, and then waited for Nicole and Kate. It took so long that Jason, the most laid-back person I know, was flailing his arms and acting agitated. Finally, we got to another bowling alley, where I bowled terribly, as usual. But I barely got to talk to Kate, who is leaving next month, or Jenn and Antonio, whom I have not really seen in months. I haven't seen Antonio in nearly a year, actually. Then somebody had a run-in with cops. Not that there were any charges pressed or any trouble gotten-into, but there it was-- the capper on the evening. There was not even anything I could do as a lawyer. Sure, if it looked like he/she was about to be arrested, I would have stepped in. However, I have no idea what to do when it seems pretty clear that they just want to hassle someone, especially when I'd had a beer and that would be practicing law while under the influence. That's kind of a bad thing. besides, I most likely would have made things worse for him/her by telling the police that I represent this person when the cops weren't going to arrest her. So I bowled. And you know what? I bowled really well as long as I was taking someone else's turn. We all left before our two games were over.

But here's the real question? What was everybody else doing that they're bowling was not extreme? Or what was so extreme about or game that it had a 400% markup over normal bowling? But we bought the $16.00 Extreme Bowling package. Maybe we got better shoes. Maybe they just sic the police on a member of the extreme bowling group? Or maybe they just weren't doing the extreme bit tonight. Ah, who knows? Anyway, you would never have known that we had been planning this all week from the way the night turned out.
