Phone tag

Glad to be represented

It's taken me too long to start making phone calls again, but yesterday I finally sat down and called a creative exec at SciFi to see if I can get him to read my fantasy pilot. I often wish that it wasn't so hard to pick up the phone to sell myself, but the more I do it, the better I get (if reluctantly).

So I called Eric and got on his call sheet. He actually called me back about three hours later, but had to leave a message. I tried calling again today, but he's at lunch.

This has been the story of our relationship. Phone tag until someone gets tired of being "it."

This time, I gave him my agent's contact info. Hurrah! I have someone who can pitch for me! I'll be working along at my regular job, and he'll call her back and they'll be able to talk. I called Jo-Ann to let her know what's what, and it happens that the pilot is on her pile to read today. So, if the timing works out right (crossing many fingers right now), she'll have read it, he'll call her and it'll be fresh in her mind and she'll be able to convince him to read it.

Mostly, I'm very glad that I have Jo-Ann. She's used to calls, she used to dealing with execs, she's used to pitching. All of which I'm not so used to.
