Class #5
Previous Entry :: Next Entry

In today's class, we had Gavin Scott visit. Gavin has written for both TV and features -- SMALL SOLDIERS, MISTS OF AVALON -- and his current project is Ursula Le Guin's EARTHSEA TRILOGY.

He's a delightful individual, and I'm very glad he came to speak. He also gave me some insight on other outlets for my features, looking at European markets and production companies rather than just US. I will try that (in my copious amounts of free time).

I also had the opportunity to use my personal pitch for the first time, and it went over fairly well. Saying that I'm a writer-boxer certainly gets people's attention, which is good.

So, now I have lists and lists and lists. This week's assignment for me is to cross-reference those lists. Make a list of shows I want to target for 2003, figure out who's on that show, and who I might know (however distantly) to contact. I'll give that to Elaine & Mark, and JoAnn as well, to see if there's any more ideas from them.

Then, I get out my calendar and making a schedule of who to call when. The only thing left after that is to stick to that schedule and start making phone calls.
