Webisode update
Previous Entry :: Next Entry

I forgot to note the meeting I had regarding the "webisode" project -- the 5-minute episode gig I found through Craigslist. I met with the producers, and my gut instinct is they're earnest. There's no pay, unless it's sold, but they have a very structured production schedule.

Ken and I talked at length about the merits of this project. There's no money, it's only 5 pages, are they using my willingness (desperation) to work to profit from my talent, will it get me noticed, did they offer a written agreement, will it be worth my time (production value), will I make good connections... round and round with no known answers. Then Ken suggests I talk to Jo-Ann and see what she thinks.

Duh.

Every writer should have someone practical in the background to give her a reality check.

I called Jo-Ann and ran it by her. She thinks that if they'll give me something in writing, credit and copy, and if it won't take much of my time, go for it. She can use it too -- staff writer for a web-based series. No one needs to know that it was for free -- it's still an impressive-sounding credit.

Just got an e-mail to say that the entire cast & crew is meeting on Thursday. It looks like the adventure will soon begin.
