Just got done juggling Xmas plans as part of two families, one in SD, one in Toronto. We could buy another ibook for what its costing us to make it home(s) for the holidays. Fortunately, my family has this mutant tradition of celebrating on the Eve, so we got a red-eye for the night of the 24th.

We're Greyhounding it down to SD early to make a belated honeymoon of it. The folks have rented a beach house from a friend, so we'll celebrate our escape from rain-drenched Vancouver with a blistering amount of rollar-blading (I can hardly wait).

Spent most of the day at Beans Around the World working on the novel. I hope to break 30,000 on it by Halloween.

Attended a peace rally yesterday in solidarity with the international protest going on (one that our local rag dedicated all of a miniscule paragraph to somewhere on page 33--ah, the objectivity of the media). During our march, some bystander cried out: "Don't forget the trade center!" leading me to ask myself whether or not those polls were true. Do people honestly think there's a connection between the 9/11 and Saddam? hmmm.

We half-hoped Michael Moore would show up cuz he was doing a book signing at Chapters. The NDP candidate did show up. He's not a bad speaker; I only hope he sticks with his convictions through the elections (the NDP's platform grows increasingly vague the closer we get to election day. Tragic.) The Artists Against War put on a mildly amusing satirical bit that included a version of "Our Father" that replaced "god" with "bomb." "Our bomb, which falls from heaven..."
