Listening: "Isobel," Bjork
Enjoying: this list

My horoscope for the week said to write a success tip list.

This is a list I created to cover general bases. It doesn't really matter what you want to do with your life, I think these steps can help. Maybe.

The list that is specific to me...well that will take longer. Probably until I see what I consider success so I know I'm not on the wrong track.

Anyway here goes:

1. Define success: wealth? stature? recognition?

2. Create a detailed Plan with at least five contingencies to get through the steps to success.

3. Around step 1.5 you'll have to throw away The Plan, accept that and proceed anyway.

4. Learn to love the people who drive you nuts. They're never going away.

5. Cultivate a calm heart. You'll need it on behalf of the people who can't handle little upsets without panicking.

6. Abandon all sense of entitlement. You don't deserve success. Success is achieved not rewarded.

7. Make obstacles part of your plan, but never get distracted by them.

8. Life is way too short for grudges.

9. Honor and humility are endlessly important. Even if you intend to live the life of a cutthroat, you should be able to know who holds honor and who is humble.

10. Make friends with great writers. They'll write your rememberances at your funeral.
