Long saga nearing it's end. My old computer at work had massive infections and after several months of being debilitated, then recently noticing spyware essentialy taking over my startion I started bugging helpdesk in earnest.

they fixed a couple of things but made a couple problems thoroughly bad. I couldn't use IE, basically. Kind of a killer for my job. So they removed Java. Still leaving my job unworkable. So they gave me a new machine.

This is the seventh in four years. *shakes head ruefully*

This one has XP on it which I'm still getting used to. It's got some...quirks...that are making me batty. But the bugs and spyware are gone.

So the XP profile and all our new stuff has Yahoo! preferences whether we like it or not.

For two days running this has meant booting up the computer to having Yahoo! messenger pop up demanding a login. So since we're being pesterded to beta test a bunch of stuff for the mothership I gave in and signed on.

You can find me at "nadianismo" as all my favorite nicks were taken.

Feel free to ping me if you have Yahoo! IM or just find me on AIM. Or continue to ignore me, however you like it. }:>

-----PS I've been using AIM via Trillian for over a year and thought it would be neat now that I have a second IM protocol to add to Trillian. It would actually be getting used per it's design. Tried it out and immediately found it sucking. The connection kept getting bounced off, reconnecting and getting bounced off. I talked to a coworker and it turns out Yahoo decided to do what it can to not work inside of bundling programs like Trillian. At least that's the scuttlebutt. We don't work remotely closely with the techs or admins who would decide that. But it really sucks. I'm back to having to keep two programs open, one for AIM and one for Yahoo.

Blah.

oh well for right now I'll probably sign on Yahoo in the morning and add AIM later in the day as my work progresses and I feel good about wasting more time.
