Not exactly a great day on average

A strange day with some depressing points. Work was fine, and finer when we got out an hour early--after a two hour lunch to say goodbye to our Captain who is being shuffled to another division. But when I got home there was a rejection from F&SF in the mailbox (an "alas" from GVG, which will make sense to the writers who read this.) So much for my cautious optimism.

However the really weird part came when we discovered that several of the presents that had been left in the living room--the ones intended for Jack's kids (yes, the ones who never called or came by) were missing. We were totally baffled since not all of the presents were gone--only four of them. We've torn the house apart and racked our brains and have come to the unpleasant conclusion that someone came into the house and took them. So, we have some unpleasant suspicions as to what happened and by whom. Unfortunately there's really nothing we can do about it, since we have zero proof and can't make an accusation.

What a fucking pain in the ass.
