After The Sky Fell

Another story off of my desk. "After The Sky Fell" is on its way to The New Yorker. We'll see if they think I'm "savvy" enough.

I'm in a group of four Wordos who are doing the cookie challenge. Basically, I'm doing 20 timed hours of novel rewriting for the week, and everyone else has their own individual goals. If one person doesn't meet his or her goal, no one gets a cookie. Plus, whoever misses their goal has to give up something. For example, mine is to give up coffee and as well as keeping an empty coffee cup on top of the monitor to rub it in.

I'm a little behind on my hours. I came up with twenty hours by considering only week days at four hours per day. The weekends are for catch up. I'm four hours behind at this point. Which means I gotta do four hours or more over the weekend.

I'm having a difficult time picking up the pace with this novel. Must push myself. Must keep going. Must have my cookie.
