I love the idea. However, not the way it was proposed. The way that MLB proposed it, teams are allowed to "tank it" for a year or two and move to another division at will. Example, the Royals, A's, and Indians decide they can not afford to field a competitive teams. The three move to the East (Oakland in the East?) and match up with the Red Sox and Yankees. They all lose 100 games but they make money because fans come to see the Red Sox and Yankees in Oakland, Cleveland, and Kansas City. The Yankees and Red Sox are guaranteed to make the playoffs every year as well because they now face weker teams more often. The Rays move to the Central because they have a better chance to make the playoffs because they now have less games against the Red Sox and Yankees. What stops a teams from moving and moving and moving? My idea is to put all the AMerican League teams in one division and all the National League teams in one division. The four best teams make the playoffs. The worst team each year is disolved...gone...forever. So, if you want to keep a major league franchise, you had better try really hard not to finish last. Of course, new teams, in new cities may be added along the way...but they had better not stink...
