Aside from all the things I have "harped on" in the past- like athletes that cannot complete a single complete sentence...and past expressions that are WAY over used- like "take"...damn that Jim Rome...I am being driving crazy (and I KNOW this is a 'run on' sentence by things like "score the basketball". Where was I when this expression was born. If you are an NBA superstar being interviewed about a game in which you scored 50 plus points, why are you saying "I am just able to score the basketball"? Do you think we might wonder if you are able to score a grapefruit, or watermelon, or a small nucleur device? You are an NBA player- you play basketball- we KNOW you score the BASKETBALL!!! That expression is going down in history with terms like "I played within myself"- I really want to see someone play "outside" themselves. While we are at it...why do athletes thank "God" when they win? Trust me, God did not wager on your game. God has more important things to do...really...he does. OH...OH...OH...how about this one...when it comes to contract negotiations..."I have to provide for my family"...really? You are 19 years old...with no kids that you will admit are yours...and supposedly your father left when you were 2...and your momma raised you alone and you fought on the tough streets of Hillsborough, CA (that was the richest city I could think of...median price home is around $6,000,000...and I was trying to be funny...and you can not possibly survive on the $1,000,000,000 they are offerring. Anyone remember the ridiculous comments Latrell Sprewell made many moons ago when he was offerred a contract that he "could not survive on"? Athletes need to grow-the-hell-up...and live in the real world. I know- never gonna happen...I just felt like venting...
