Aargh. We had to go grocery shopping this evening, and it took us over 30 minutes to get through Morrison's, downtown, because it was so crammed with people. (We were only buying £7 of groceries, but first we had to get through the crowd, and then we stood in line for 10 minutes at the cash register.) We finally escaped, were on our way out--and we saw, prominently displayed, "The Two Towers" extended edition, for £19.99! (That's eight pounds cheaper than any of the other shops in town.) We couldn't face turning back and re-joining the lines, so we left... spent some time downtown... saw how expensive all the other stores' copies were... reconsidered...walked the 20 minutes back to Morrison's... and arrived 5 minutes before closing time, to find out that we were locked out! The security guard wasn't letting anyone in for any reason.

Aaaaaaaaargh.

Needless to say, we had missed our bus by the time we got back from our failed trip to Morrison's.

Sadly, we'll undoubtedly be back tomorrow at rush hour (right after work) to face the nightmarish lines again. Yes, we are addicts, it is true.

But hey. Patrick's cooking pasta con aglio e oglio as I type, I've got a new recipe (thanks Karina!) for apple muffins to try out, and my supervisory meeting was great. So it's a good evening anyway.
