I'm not in Kansas anymore!

I returned Saturday after 5 days in Wichita, Kansas. I was there working on remote. Having lived most of my life in the NorthWest of the United States, most everything about the area was slightly strange to me.

Living virtually surrounded by tall mountains, seen on days when it is not raining, I was constantly amazed at NOT seeing anything on the horizon.

Especially above ground level, arriving and leaving on a Boeing 737, it was so very flat, with crop circles visible everywhere. No, not the kind England is famous for, in intricate, otherworldly designs, but the kind produced by farmers for efficient use of their machinery and watering mechanisms.

This continues all the way to Denver. I think of Denver being a mile high, so in my head I think of it perched on some plateau, plainly visible on approach. This is not the case. It may be on a plateau, but from the air it really looks much like Wichita except that there are mountains visible.

I still love the NorthWest U.S. and would find it very difficult to adjust to any other area of our great country.

Yes, I'm glad I'm not in Kansas anymore, but it was a nice place to visit.
