Quite The High Life!

A few days ago, I had the chance to visit Taipei 101, which is either the tallest building in the world, if you believe the locals, or at least one of the tallest.

We went to the top (enclosed) floor first, the 92nd floor, if I recall correctly. Since the floors are not perfectly vertical, you are able to look nearly straight down, (aiieee!), or out to the horizon in every direction, by walking around the perimeter.

For another couple dollars ($US), we went up to the open air observation deck, where we were literally in the clouds! (It was a slight drizzle.)

The amazing thing was the elevator, which whisked us up the 90+ floors in a matter of some 30 seconds or less, (it seemed even faster). My ears needed clearing several times, even though it is pressurized to equal the pressure on the way up and down.

We took the subway there and back, along with a few blocks walk to and from the subway on either side. If you're a people-watcher like me, there's nothing like being in a completely foreign land and seeing how the locals travel and live!

I've also been in the Sydney Tower, but that was over 10 years ago, and not quite as high up, although a similar sweeping view of the city.
