I wrote this letter to a 12 year old little girl. A little girl whom I do not even know.

Hello Brigid,

I read about your offer to help out the people in New York. I wanted to let you know that I am really really proud of you. I read the story that your dad wrote about you while sitting here at work. I was truly touched by your generosity. I'm 23, and live in LA. I work only a couple of blocks away from LAX Airport and live a short ways from Downtown LA. I was touched because, although I have made donations to charities before, PAL (a fund for Police Officers and their community projects), World Wildlife Org., and a few other ones, I cannot recall if I've ever shared more than 30 dollars of my money to any one organization. I wanted to let you know what I donated today, because of your letter:

50 dollars went to United Way of New York, The September 11th Fund

100 dollars to the Red Cross

and 50 dollars to the New York Firefighters Fund

I don't make tons of money. I didn't really think I would be able to do much to make a difference, but I must say your willingness to help and your generosity really pushed me to contribute what I can.
